Windows 8.1 second monitor resolution
I'm trying to connect my parents' laptop s to their big screen TV but only one of the two is working properly. Both laptops have the same screen size and resolution; the only difference between the two is that one is running win 7 and the other is running win 8. The one running win 7 works perfectly, but the new one with win 8.
The display settings on each are identical and the drivers are up to date. I can't think of any other solution than to force the laptop's resolution higher but that could potentially damage it. I can provide full specs on all 3 devices if necessary. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Not to worry we will guide you to get the issue resolved. Based on the research I can explain you most of the time it is with the TV settings.
You have read the user manual to check the resolution for the extended monitor. You may also check the below mentioned link for Connecting a second monitor or projector. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Details required : characters remaining Cancel Submit 6 people found this reply helpful.
It works very good. Going back to windws, it is really sad windows does not come with a native solution to connect another windows device to use it as a second monitor extending the actual desktop for portable workstation purpose. As of right now, none of the apps for directly turning a Tablet into a second monitor work for windows 10 due to the Mirage drivers being incompatible with anything above windows 7 Maybe 8.
So what I had to do was trick windows into thinking a second monitor was connected, and then used splashtop remote desktop to remote control my desktop, and then view only monitor 2. Which effectively turns my tablet into a secondary touchscreen monitor for my PC. And this method actually work much better than most apps like airscreen, iDisplay, or Splashtop Extended Desktop that attempt to outright make your tablet a monitor. As these apps have somewhat slow refresh rates in comparison to the Splashtop remote desktop app.
It should have the same effect. This kind of Tech still remains kind of a mystery Some dude in Japan has actually developed a Connections between monitors by simply using the devices Wifi between eachother assumes it is NOT through Home wifi network or any kind, so no router or anything between.
A link from about the research:. It's really interesting that this has been brought up again! Sorry if I could not spread any more light over this, just wanted to give a higher perspective. Perhaps some elaboration with a Chrome cast stick or Miracast device might help? Have not tried any of them out but will have a look at it! The dummy plug works on my wife's Vaio Pro 13 running Win 8. It does not work on my HP Omen running Win Would be really great if I could get this up and running as i'd like to cheaply create a 2nd monitor solution for working on my laptop.
I tried both and they worked as expected. I was able to extend the display to the virtual monitor. I attempted to use a program called "SplashTop" but the display quality was terrible. I used the wife's Vaio 13 as the extended display. This will pull up the window shown below.
Click on the picture with the numeral 2 label. You can drag it on screen to represent how you have the second monitor positioned on your desk or table, as shown in the options below. This menu will let you arrange the new monitor in relation to the main screen.
The main screen is labeled 1 in this diagram. Click on each monitor and below it will show you the various resolution settings in a drop down menu. The instructions for your monitor should have provided you with the recommended resolution.
If not, Windows will show you a scale of recommended resolutions. It's actually a vga, sometimes called d-sud, not avi connector. And using the dvi on that card with the hdmi as well will give better picture quality. I tried it with my labtop for a while back but with no results, but now I will try it again..
This is great! I currently run two monitors but in Windows 7.
